Thomas G. Tracy, 74, passed away on October 9, 2025 at Ascension – St Vincent’s Carmel Heart Care after a brief illness.
Born on June 5th 1951 to Robert and Betty Tracy of Jonesboro, IN, Tom lived his whole life in Grant County. He was a proud graduate of Mississinewa High School class of 1969. He worked at RCA/Thomson in Marion, IN for over 30 years.
In his youth, Tom was an avid baseball and softball player, and he remained a loyal fan of the St. Louis Cardinals, no matter how much they disappointed him. He was also a devoted racing fan and photographer, following the IndyCar and Formula 1 circuits year after year. A music scholar and audiophile, he DJ’d parties and events in Grant County for years. Throughout his life, he continually evolved into a better version of himself – mellower, wiser, more graceful, and more loving.
Tom is survived by his wife of 52 years, Susan Tracy of Jonesboro; his son Todd (Michele) of San Jose, CA; sister Teresa (Terry) Shafer of Sweetser; and grandsons Mason and Declan Tracy. He also leaves behind a group of lifelong friends including Mike and Lisa Burchette of Gas City; Monty Corey; Mike Hoskins of South Bend; and RJ Pasant of Gas City.
He was preceded in death by his father Robert (Bob) Tracy; mother Betty Tracy; and brother Pat Tracy.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that any memorial contributions be directed to the Jonesboro Park Department or Grant County Humane Society. The family deeply appreciates the love and support expressed during this difficult time and encourages those who wish to honor Tom’s memory to do so through acts of kindness, generosity, and compassion.
In accordance with the family’s wishes, there will be no public visitation.
