Bessie Josephine Carter, age 89, passed away on January 17th 2026. She was born in Crab Orchard, Kentucky to the late Robert and Stella (Spivey) Newcomb. Bessie was the owner of Frost Upholstery for many years and will be fondly remembered by her many employees and clients. She was a member of Kingdom Hall Jehovah’s Witnesses of New Palestine, Indiana.

Bessie is survived by her sons: Gregory R. Hasty (Crystal) and Jeff Hasty (Linda); grandchildren: Gregory K. Hasty, Sara Kiefner, Scott Kiefner (Autumn), Chyane Hone, Augustina Hone; sisters: Virginia Hacker, Justine Frost (Jeff); brother: Benny Newcomb (Diane); numerous great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. She was loved deeply and will be sadly missed.

Bessie was preceded in death by sisters: Betty Jane Newcomb, Dorothy Williams, Lois Anderson, Georgia Coffey, Sherry Phelps; brothers: Roy Newcomb, Bobby Newcomb, Donnie Newcomb, Keith Newcomb, Ronnie Newcomb, David Newcomb.

A Memorial Service will be held at a later date at Washington Park Cemetery, 10800 East Washington Street, Indianapolis.
