Pamela “Penny” Borst

Pamela “Penny” Borst

Pamela “Penny” Borst, also known as the family jokester and master cinnamon roll critic, left this world on March 12, 2026, at the age of 80. Born on July 17, 1945, in Veedersburg, IN, to Charles and Bessy Borst, Penny was the youngest and most adored of her siblings Mary Marie and Charles (or so she claimed).

Since 1963, Penny delighted in raising a lively brood of 7 children: Larry, Chuck, Chris, April, Mike, Devan, and Wayne. To her delight, this loving matriarch became the grandmother of 13 and the great-grandmother of 6, juggling more names than a ringmaster at a circus.

Penny, a retired cook with a keen eye for overbaked brownies and under-seasoned stews, cherished nothing more than family reunions. Her monthly gatherings were legendary for the cacophony of laughter, love, and good-natured chaos!

Her signature phrase, “Damn it, Wayne, will you leave me alone?” often followed by a litany of mismatched names, will forever echo in the hearts of those who knew her best. Everyone was “grandma’s kid,” even if not by blood – Penny had a way of making everyone feel part of the family.

In her passing, Penny reunites with her son Larry, her late parents, and siblings in eternal rest. In keeping with her wishes, there will be no formal funeral service, for she didn’t want anyone ‘gawking at her.’ Instead, a celebration of her full and vibrant life will take place on July 4, 2026 – details to be announced.

Pamela “Penny” Borst will be dearly missed by her surviving children: Bonnie, Chuck (Tammy), Chris, April, Mike (Holy), Devan, and Wayne, along with a large and loving extended family. May her spirit of laughter and unconditional love live on for generations to come.
