Dawn Lesley Vonda (Jensen) Hiatt, 60, passed away Friday, March 13th, 2026 at home in Fishers, Indiana. She was born in Friend, Nebraska on May 14th, 1965 to Lowell and Sis (Hulse) Jensen.
Dawn was raised on her family’s farm, where she helped her father raise cattle. As a young child, she adopted a Siamese cat named Priscilla, which led to a life-long love of Siamese. During her school years, she was an active participant in the Girl Scouts, Pom Poms, 4-H, and the Lutheran church. As a teen and young woman, she worked as a baby sitter and then as a waitress at the local truck stop.
In 1983, Dawn Graduated Co-Valedictorian from Exeter High School. She received a full scholarship to Peru State college in Peru, NE where she briefly attended before transferring to the University of Nebraska- Lincoln. Here she became an avid Corn Husker, a pride that remained with her throughout her life.
Dawn graduated Cum Laude with a Bachelors in Accounting from University of Nebraska in 1987. She then began her career in Lincoln, Nebraska, as a Certified Public Accountant at Deloitte and Touche, a prominent international accounting firm.
Dawn moved to St. Louis briefly, where she worked as a Senior Auditor for Ernst and Young before moving to Carmel, Indiana. Dawn worked for several major companies including Verizon Wireless, Hurco, Eli Lilly, and AES Corporation as a Seniors Auditor, Corporate Accounting Manager, and Financial Controller.
From her marriage to John Hiatt came two daughters. The family then moved to Fishers, Indiana, where Dawn lived the rest of her life. Dawn strived to be a successful business woman and to be there for her family. When her daughters were in Elementary and Middle School, she often worked odd hours, getting up before 4 am so that she would be able to pick her daughters up from school.

She loved rooting for the Nebraska Corn Huskers during football season. She enjoyed alternative rock music, scuba diving, reading, traveling, and spending time with her family. She explored the United Kingdom, France, Costa Rica, and Egypt, but her favorite place to travel was Cancun, Mexico, which she visited countless times with her family.
