Mark Michael Uhlenhake

Mark Michael Uhlenhake, 68, passed away from cancer complications on March 31, 2026, in Indianapolis, Indiana. Mark was a proud son, father, brother, and grandfather.

Mark was born to Harold “Bud” and Irene Uhlenhake on December 23, 1957 in St. Henry, Ohio. The third of five children, Mark grew up surrounded by family. He graduated from John Marshall High School and then attended IUPUI. Mark enlisted in the United States Marine Corps as a combat engineer for 3 years. While he was in the USMC, he learned carpentry which he continued to use in his career as a carpenter and house painter. Outside of work, Mark could often be found birdwatching at an Indy Park, playing board games & cards, or watching a game; he was a lifelong fan of the Indiana Pacers, the Indianapolis Colts, and Nascar. Mark was known to always enjoy a Budweiser, especially with family and friends. Listening to classic rock was also a favorite pastime of his, particularly Yes and AC/DC, his favorite bands.

Mark is survived by his four children; Emily (Monté) Johnson, Kimberlee Uhlenhake, Kate Uhlenhake, and Anna Uhlenhake, and siblings; Joseph (Donna) Uhlenhake, Daniel (Debbie) Uhlenhake, Robert (Blade Hauth) Uhlenhake, and Jane (Carl) Oxley. Mark had also recently welcomed his first grandchild—his granddaughter, Milani Johnson.

The family will hold a celebration of life for Mark in late May at Fort Benjamin Harrison Park. Details to follow.

  1. My sincere condolences to the family.
High school days, partying, loving life. Mark, Tim Warner and I snagging quarts of beer from Mark’s garage. Rolling out to Geist in Tim’s car, missed a turn, into the trees we went. That totaled car of Tim’s sat behind Big Daddy’s, seemed like forever:) “Those were the days my friend”.
    Rest in Peace Devil Dog!
    Semper Fidelis.
