Carl Glennis Ely

Carl Glennis Ely, 77, passed away in his home on Sunset Lane in Mooresville Indiana on January 29, 2026.

Carl was preceded in death by his wife Marian, and his mother, Cora Johnson Lewis of Vero Beach, Florida.

He is survived by his brothers Leslie Clay Ely of Vero Beach Florida and Dana Bruce Ely of Portsmouth Virginia, 4 nieces and 2 nephews.

In his younger years, Carl worked as a movie projector operator in Norfolk Virginia. He later found his way to Indiana, where he built a career assembling alternators and starters at an automotive manufacturing plant — and where he met the love of his life in Marian.

Carl may have only completed the fifth grade, but he was a wise and contented man. He had a gift for happiness, and those who knew him will always remember the smile on his face and the warmth he showed whenever family and friends came around.

He will be deeply missed.
