Jerry D. Zimmerman

Jerry D. Zimmerman, 70, of Greenfield, Indiana, passed away unexpectedly on August 10, 2026. He was raised in Indianapolis and moved to Greenfield several years ago.

Jerry was preceded in death by his parents, Raymond “Gene” and Doris Zimmerman, and his brothers, David Linnaman and Steven Zimmerman.

He is survived by his wife, Mary Zimmerman; sisters Debbie (Vernon) Yates and Vickie Cronkhite; daughters Amy Zimmerman, Heather (Steve) Smiley, and Amanda Zimmerman; sons Jonathon Zimmerman (Jessica) and Jared Kantner; and nine grandchildren. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.

Jerry loved his family, music, reading, gardening, and sports. A devoted sports fan, he enthusiastically followed the Chicago Cubs, Indianapolis Colts, Notre Dame, and Indiana Hoosiers. His disapproval could certainly be heard when his teams were losing, but it was often followed by his familiar declaration, “I knew they would win,” when they came back to victory.  He also enjoyed hunting, fishing, and cooking, especially preparing wonderful meals for family and friends.

Jerry will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew him.

A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
