Romaz Neal Griffin

Romaz Neal Griffin was born on September 16, 1957, in Indianapolis, Indiana, to Henrietta Griffin (Rowan) and Bobby Neal Griffin. He was raised in Indianapolis and attended St. Rita Catholic Schools during his primary years before graduating from Chatard High School in 1975.

During his middle school years, Romaz discovered a love for basketball and proudly played for St. Rita. He and his teammates successfully defended the Cadet CYO Archdiocesan Basketball Tournament title, creating memories and friendships that remained a special part of his youth.

After graduating from Chatard High School in 1975, Romaz enlisted in the Army National Guard in 1979, where he served as a cook. Following his military service, he returned to Indianapolis, where he worked in retail and remained close to his family and community.

Romaz remained in Indianapolis after finishing his military service and worked in retail. Romaz loved his music and on occasion you may have heard him sing. At family gatherings, you would find him near his jukebox or sharing the latest artists that he enjoyed. He loved to laugh and would often tell a few jokes. Romaz cared for his family, often calling everyone on their birthdays or sending cards in the mail to celebrate.

Romaz Neal Griffin departed his earthly home on July 30, 2026, at St. Vincent Hospital in Indianapolis, Indiana. He was preceded in death by his loving parents, Henrietta Griffin (Rowan) and Bobby Neal Griffin.

Romaz leaves behind a host of family members and friends who will cherish the memories they shared with him and miss his presence dearly. His love of family, music, and the simple moments that brought people together will remain a lasting part of his legacy.
