Alton “Gus” Ralph Horn, age 72, of Indianapolis, IN passed away on Wednesday, August 26, 2026.  Gus was born on July 2, 1954 to Ralph and the late Mary Kay (Norman) Horn.  He is one of seven siblings.  Gus attended Northwest High School and ITT Technical Institute.

It was often said that Gus was one-of-a-kind, a unique personality.  And that he was – no other like him.  He loved reading, learning, listening to music, being helpful and making friends.  He will be remembered for his vast knowledge, silly comments, unique views and unusual gifts.  He was curious, industrious, ingenious, clever, thoughtful, playful, eccentric and so much more.  No other like him.

Gus is preceded in death by his mother Mary Kay Horn.  He is survived by his partner of 36 years Sue Neal, father Ralph Horn, sisters Ruth Pinkham (Della Nagle), Barbara (Dennis) Adams and brothers David (Gloria), Andy (Debbie), Thom (Elaine) and Howard (Kim), stepsons Randy (Jolene) Fredriksz and Jason (Gunmari) Fredriksz, and grandchildren Nico Rose Fredriksz, Wiley Fredriksz, Hillevi and Solveig Fredriksz, sixteen nieces and nephews and a host of beloved friends.  And his devoted dog Hannah is lost without him.

His was no ordinary life – a life well-lived and well-loved.  Gus will be deeply missed.
