Debra Dawn Brauneller “Debbie Cummings”, 72, passed away on October 4th, 2026.
Born on November 25th, 1953, she grew up in Lake Andes, SD. After graduating High School, she served in the US Army. She married her husband Brad Brauneller and they were married 51 years. She was an advocate for literacy and education in South Dakota and Indiana, and retired from the Learnmore Center in North Manchester, IN.
Those grateful for sharing her life include her husband Brad Brauneller, children Megan (Garth) Bjorklund, Caleb (Kecia) Brauneller, Lesley (Derek) Duer, Holly (Michael) Mann, grandchildren Skye, Finn, Mizuna, Liam, Millie, Eugene, Barrett, siblings Leslie (Terry) Cummings, Jeannette (Leonard) Raw, Robin (Joe) Johnson, Michele (Kevin) Richter, nieces, nephews and many more relatives and friends that will miss her dearly.
She is preceded in death by her father, Darrel Leslie Cummings, mother, Noma Jean (Brumbaugh) Cummings, granddaughter Linnea Bjorklund, and brothers Jon Cummings and Eric Cummings.
Among her most celebrated talents included gardening, cooking, playing trumpet, drawing, educating, making her children’s costumes and generously giving her time to serve others. She had a witty sense of humor and left behind a lifetime of love, traditions, and stories that will be cherished for years to come.
A private memorial will be scheduled at a later date.
