Summary
David George Percy, 86, of Indianapolis, Indiana passed peacefully on Friday, November 10th, surrounded by his family. Dave was born on July 26, 1937 to George and Blanche (Miller) Percy in Chicago, IL.
He earned his bachelor’s degree in business from Indiana University in Bloomington, IN. He met his wife, Jean (Haskell) while attending IU and they were married at the First Presbyterian Church in Danville, IL on June 6, 1959. Dave is also survived by his children Barb (Mike) Weaver of Noblesville, IN, Wendy Teare of Kirkwood, MO and Jon (Deb) Percy of Juneau AK; and his grandchildren Ben (Lindsay) Weaver, Alex Teare, Kelly Weaver, Amelia Teare, Sam Teare, Sophia Percy, Cedar Percy and Beck Percy.
Dave was very loyal to friends and family and loved with all his heart. He grew up in Chicago, worked as an advertising executive, raised his family in Glenview and moved to Indianapolis in 1992. Dave was a competitive swimmer in his youth and became an avid scuba diver. While living in Glenview, he was a member of the Sea Fans Dive club and took many trips with them to explore the reefs of Florida and the Caribbean.
Dave was a die hard IU and Bobby Knight fan. He loved boat rides, scotch & soda, thumbprint cookies, fruit jellies, saltwater taffy and vacationing to the same places year after year. He was a master griller and was known for his Ribfests every Memorial and Labor Day weekend, and his grilled turkeys on Thanksgiving and Christmas. He enjoyed golfing and hiking, particularly in the Smoky Mountains.
Over the years, he was active in his church, serving as an elder and participating in small groups. He had a strong faith and demonstrated it in the way he lived his life.
A celebration of life will be planned at a later date.

David was so full of life it’s hard to think of him as hone. I have good memories, especially him and Carolyn reminiscing about old times back in Chicago. The whole Seely Family sends their condolences to your family.
I have never met Mr. Percy but I met his daughter Wendy and she is a beautiful soul. I pray for peace and comfort during this time of healing for all members of the family.
Jean, Barb, Wendy and Jon – Carol passed away in 2002 and I am remarried and living in NJ. We were reminiscing just today about things and I was relating about all our diving trips we did together and our dive instructor partnership. I’m sure we were the only dive club with a latin motto – pro vitae demergitae. I’m sure he is missed.
