Brenda Joyce Sims

Brenda Joyce Sims, age 79, of Chattanooga, Tennessee, passed away peacefully on October 19, 2025. She was born on August 10, 1946, in Chattanooga to the late Hortense Woods and Marcus Sims.

Brenda was preceded in death by her parents; her sisters, Mary Sims and Patricia Daniels; and her brother, Randy Williams.

She was a devoted mother, grandmother, and friend whose warmth and kindness touched everyone she met. Brenda dedicated her life to her family, always providing encouragement, laughter, and unconditional love. Her gentle spirit and generous heart will be deeply missed but fondly remembered by all who knew her.

Brenda is survived by her two children, Scott Sims and his wife April, and Lisa Washington and her husband Markel. She was also the proud grandmother of three beloved grandchildren — Tierra, Marcus, and Tamera — who brought immense joy and pride to her life.

A lifelong advocate for women and community service, Brenda was a Life Member of the National Council of Negro Women (NCNW), Indianapolis Section where she proudly supported programs that uplifted and empowered others.

A celebration of Brenda’s life will be held at a later date, where family and friends will gather to honor her memory and the legacy of love and service she leaves behind.

Brenda’s life was a testament to compassion, strength, and grace. Though she is no longer with us, her spirit will continue to live on in the hearts of those who loved her.
