Cecilia "Cookie" T. Werbel (née Mallek), 75, passed away on July 28, 2024, in Noblesville, Indiana. Born on February 14, 1949, in Chicago, Illinois, Cookie lived a life marked by her caring nature and vibrant spirit.

Cookie dedicated her life to serving others, working as a caregiver for the mentally, physically disabled and assisting children in after-school programs. Her loving, spiritual, and humorous personality made her a beacon of light in the lives of those she touched. Cookie was also known for her carefree and impulsive nature.

In her leisure time, Cookie indulged in a variety of hobbies including reading, writing poetry, listening to music, bowling, and embarking on road trips. She found joy in the simple pleasures of life and cherished the moments spent exploring new places.
Cookie is survived by her children, Phillip Werbel and his spouse Tera Chenez, Marissa Gilman and her spouse Corey, and Kenneth Werbel and his spouse Monica; and her beloved grandsons, Max, Leo, Bruce, and Oliver. Also several cousins and dear friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Edmund and Roslyn Mallek.

A celebration of Cookie's life will be held on August 17th, 2024, from Noon to 4pm at Howard Park Event Room B, 219 S St. Louis Blvd, South Bend, IN 46617. Friends and family are invited to gather in remembrance of a life well-lived, filled with love, laughter, and an enduring spirit.

  1. So sorry to hear about the Cookie’s passing. We worked together at Corvilla. The clients loved her feisty personality along with the pure joy she exuberated. Heaven has gained an exciting and fun angel. .

    You will forever have a shining light in my childhood memories. Walking to your house as a child to play with my best friend Marissa was always a highlight of living in my childhood neighborhood. You were always kind and fun! You will be so missed! Prayers for all of your close friends and family as they grieve your absence. God bless you all!

      We are so sorry to hear about your mother Cookie. She was one of our oldest family friends dating back to May Street. We remember fondly the many good times and holidays we spent together with Cookie and her parents. She will be missed by all. Our thoughts and prayers are with you and your family.
