Daniel Lee Edwards

Daniel Lee Edwards

Daniel Lee Edwards, 77, of Anderson, Indiana, passed away on March 5, 2025, at home.

Daniel—also known as Dan, Danny, Lum, and Papaw—was born and lived most of his life in Anderson, Indiana. He worked at Delco-Remy/General Motors until his retirement as a sheet metal fabricator, tinsmith, and millwright. He was also involved in the Employee Assistance Program (EAP) for many years, helping those in need.

Danny loved playing football in high school and liked to joke that he got kicked out of the Marine Corps within the first 20 minutes of enlistment. He had a passion for Harley-Davidson motorcycles, his gun and knife collection, and spending time with friends and family. He especially enjoyed taking motorcycle trips, family vacations in Canada, and visiting loved ones in Illinois. As his children grew up, he took great pride in watching Dayton swim and his daughters play tennis.

Danny was an active member of the recovery community and was dedicated to helping others. A grateful friend of Bill W., he was a devoted member, sponsor, and mentor, guiding individuals on their own paths to healing. He leaves behind a legacy of hope and resilience, reminding us all that change is possible and that no one has to walk their journey alone.

He is survived by his children, Kelly Hodges (Brian), Becky Hulse (Andy), and Dayton Edwards (Jaimaleih); his nephew, Brian Edwards (Deborah); his grandchildren, Tyler, Cory, Danny, James, Shelby Lynn, and Taylor; and a host of great-grandchildren. He also leaves behind a cherished extended family in Illinois.

In accordance with Danny’s wishes, there will be no formal funeral service at this time. Instead, we ask those who love him to honor his memory in their own way—through shared stories and acts of kindness. A celebration of life and the scattering of his ashes will be planned at a later date, with details to be shared when arrangements are made.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to his grandson James and his wife, Sabrina, for the loving care they provided in Danny’s final days.

Donations in his memory can be made to House of Hope – Madison County, Anderson, IN(https://www.andhouseofhope.org/donate).

Arrangements entrusted to Simple Cremation Indianapolis, 6904 S. East Street, Suite E, Indianapolis, IN., (317)361-4516.

I felt so badly for you when you’re back got infected after surgery and you were in the hospital years ago and I came to visit you.
You were still the kind, gentle person that I knew in high school.

He will be missed
