Dolores (Dodie) Cheatham (née Polk), aged 91, passed away on November 1, 2024, in Indianapolis, IN. Born in St. Louis, MO, Dolores was a devoted mother to her four sons and a dedicated employee. She had a six-decade career that began with 39 years of service in various capacities for the US Federal Government, followed by 21 years at CVS. She retired in 2012 at age 79.
Dolores was known for her pragmatic and spiritual approach to life. She cared about people, particularly family members, and her caring was demonstrated with love, generosity, and kindness. Her faithfulness was evident in her reliability. Her employers and family members knew they could count on Dodie. She was preceded in death by her son Steven and is survived by her sons, Kevin, Michael, and Gregory, who remember her as a proud and involved mother, daughter-in-law Dell McClenney, granddaughters Steevi Polk and Kelly Conley, nieces Caroyln Jones, Najha Fielder-Adeyanju and Gwendolyn Johnson and her sister-in-law and friend, Janet Cheatham Bell. Dolores was married for 20 years to the late James H. Cheatham.
Her life was a testament to her caring nature and commitment to her family and community. Dolores will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
