Dotty Bowman, 77, of Danville, passed away on Sunday, September 13, 2026, from cancer. She was born to Colonel C. Cosby and Dorothy R. (Seib) Kerney in 1949 in Evansville, Indiana. She was the oldest of their 6 children: Robert, George, John, Margaret, and Anne. She was raised in Danville and graduated from Danville Community High School in 1967. She then attended Porter Business College in 1968. She commuted into Indianapolis for her job at Blue Cross Blue Shield via a former bus line that went through Danville to Indianapolis. It was on this bus that she met her husband, Darrell K. Bowman (Class of 1965, Avon High School). They married in 1971 and had 4 children: Dennise (Class of 1989, DDE HS), Derrick (Class of 1994, DDE HS), Dannena (Class of 2001, DCHS), and Diannah (Class of 2002, DCHS).

She is preceded in death by her parents and 2 siblings, Robert and John. She is survived by her uncle, Richard “Dick” Seib; her brother, George (Ok Sun) Kerney; her sisters: Margaret (Randy Dothage) Shaver and Anne (David) Burd; her husband, Darrell; her 4 children: Dennise (Randy) Bieghler, Derrick (Ali) Bowman, Dannena (John A.) Smith, and Diannah Bowman; her 3 grandchildren: Briannah (Nick Gentry) Bieghler, Miranda (Brady) Perez, and Donovan Bowman; her 2 great-grandchildren: Madalynn (Gentry) and Hallie (Perez); her several nieces and nephews; and her many cousins.

While raising her children, she became active in the school system where she created life-long friends that she cherished. After moving back to Danville, she became active with her Bunko group where she would try out new dessert recipes. In 2002, her husband joined American Legion Post 145 and she joined the Auxiliary where they enjoyed new friendships, assisting with events, and her famous fudgy brownies became even more well-known. She later transferred over to Pittsboro 426. As these groups and her family can attest, she was known for her kindness and laughter that will be fondly remembered.
