Doug Whitis

Summary

Doug Whitis, age 61, of Camby, Indiana, rode his Harley through the
gates of heaven on February 8, 2025. He was a beloved father, grandad,
son, brother, uncle and friend and will be missed beyond measure.

Doug was born on October 10, 1963, to the late Ulene Mounce in
Somerset, Kentucky.

He was of the Baptist faith and loved with his whole heart. He loved
God, his momma and his family. Doug would give you the last dollar he
had if you needed it, without hesitation and had a smile that would
light up the room. He enjoyed riding his Harley, watching UK
Basketball, fishing, listening to music, dancing and more than
anything, a good time. Some of his favorite moments were taking his
kids to the fair and fossil hunting at the lake when they were small.
Before his stroke he lived life to its absolute fullest and always had
a great time everywhere he went.

Doug was preceded in death by his parents, Ulene and Carl Mounce, four
brothers Roger Whitis, Lonnie Whitis, Buddy Whitis and Elmer Whitis,
one sister Randie Sue Whitis and a very special brother-in-law he
looked up to, David Hawk.

He leaves behind to cherish his memory, his son, Brandon (Sandie)
Haynes of Charleston, SC his daughter, Crystal Whitis (and Jason
Turner) of Camby, IN; Four grandchildren that he was incredibly proud
of Alison, Seth and Aidan Haynes of Port Clinton, OH and Jackson
Turner of Camby, IN; One brother, Robert 'Bobby' Whitis of Shopville,
KY; Four sisters, Sissy Hawk of Acorn, KY, Barbara (Leotis) Whitaker
of Forest Park, OH, Linda Whitis of Goodwater, KY and Bonnie (Pete)
Watson of Mooresville, IN. He had many nieces and nephews who were
very dear to him, as well as Alexandra Stanziano who helped care for
him after his stroke.

The family would like to express gratitude to Jason and Alex for
helping care for Doug throughout the years. There were many doctor
appointments and dreary days that you guys helped us get through and
we will forever be grateful for your support and unwavering love.
The family will release information regarding urn burial at Lakeside
Memorial Gardens in Somerset, KY and a memorial service celebrating
Doug’s extraordinary life in the coming weeks.
