Faron Gene Lakes, 69, of Martinsville, passed away in his home on March 16, 2026.
Faron was born at home in Brooklyn, Indiana on April 15, 1956.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Naomi A. Huff Lakes, and Herbert H. and Goldie Smith Lakes. His siblings are Shirley Ann Hamilton, Bonnie Lou Lakes McKinney (Lloyd D), Brenda Sue Lakes (Victor Vawter), Julie I Lakes Smith (Randall) and Sandy Lee Lakes (Julie). He was also blessed with 18 nieces and nephews.
He attended Mooresville High School and worked in the lumber yard in Mooresville.
He moved to Kentucky and spent most of his adult life there. He lived in McKee, Stanton and Clay City. He had various jobs: helped with farming and planting/harvesting tobacco, working in general stores and at a manufacturing creosote plant.
He was a gentle soul who would do whatever he could to help his friends and neighbors. He enjoyed the outdoors, fishing and hunting. He loved to listen to and play bluegrass music with his dad and uncles. Above all, he love his dog, Benji, more than anything else.
