Frank Edward Vraniak, 68, of Lake Village, Indiana, and residing in Carmel, Indiana, passed away unexpectedly on December 27, 2025, surrounded by the love of his family. His passing leaves a profound emptiness in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.
Frank was born on April 19, 1957, in Gary, Indiana, the son of Louis F. Vraniak and Caroline L. Vraniak (Russell).
Frank graduated from West Leyden High School in 1975 and later earned his associate degree from the Community College of the Air Force. He proudly served his country in the United States Air Force, enlisting in 1975 and serving honorably until his discharge in 1979. His service reflected the dedication, discipline, and integrity that defined his life.
Frank shared his life with his beloved life partner, Deneen Griffith, until his passing. After being apart for 30 years, fate gently brought them back together, giving them a second chance at a love that never truly faded. Together, they built a life filled with love, laughter, and companionship in Lake Village and Carmel, Indiana, cherishing every precious moment they were given.
Frank was a devoted stepfather to Amanda Cuehler, Jeff (JD) Cuehler, Jimmy Chamberlein, and Bill Chamberlein from a previous marriage. He took pride in being part of their lives and cared deeply for each of them.
He was also a loving uncle to his nephews Mark, Matt, and David Vraniak, and a cherished “uncle” to his second cousins Brittney Christenson (Kyle), Ashleigh Graper (Justin), Chanel Hammons (Derek), and Michaela Russell. Frank treasured time spent with them, and they brought him immeasurable joy throughout his life.
Frank dedicated over 40 years of his professional life as a Cyclotron Nuclear Engineer, sharing his extensive knowledge of cyclotron systems and equipment maintenance. He worked for several companies throughout his career, including Zevocor and most recently SpectronRx, where he was respected not only for his expertise, but for his work ethic and kindness.
Outside of work, Frank embraced life with curiosity and joy. He was an avid treasure hunter who loved metal detecting and heading out on adventures in search of hidden treasures. He cherished time at the lake, fishing whenever he could. Frank also held a special place in his heart for Russell Farms, which he founded alongside his late brother, Louis. Operating from the late 1990s through the early 2000s in Lake Village, Indiana, Russell Farms became a beloved destination for family and friends near and far. With its haunted barn, haunted hayrides, concessions, and pumpkin sales, the farm created countless cherished memories and reflected Frank’s love for family, fun, and togetherness.
Frank never lost his sense of wonder. He loved watching the sky for any sign of a UFO and often joked that he hoped one day he might finally meet an alien.
Frank will be remembered for his great sense of humor, his unwavering positivity, and his willingness to help anyone in need. He had a gentle heart, a welcoming spirit, and a way of making people feel truly seen and valued. His laughter, kindness, and love will live on through the many lives he touched.
Those remaining to cherish Frank’s memory include his beloved life partner, Deneen Griffith; Carol Chalker (Mark); Mike Vraniak (Tara); Lisa Vraniak (Lou, deceased); Mike Russell (Michelle); along with many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends who will forever hold him close in their hearts.
Frank was preceded in death by his parents, Louis F. Vraniak and Caroline L. Vraniak (Russell); his brother, Lou Vraniak; and his uncle, Chuck Russell.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday April 25, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. Lake Village Community Hall – 9728 N 300 W, Lake Village, IN 46349

Frank will greatly be missed! I enjoyed my time working with him at Zevacor. I loved hearing about the treasure hunting excursions. Rest easy. Prayers for the family.
So sorry for your loss. I worked with Frank years ago and we used to tease him that when he came to NJ, he brought the rain with him and when he left, the skies opened up so his nickname was “Rain-iak”. He was such a good person, great engineer, a lot of fun. He will be missed.
My deepest heartfelt condolences to Deneen and the Vraniak Family. I grew up with Frank in Lake Village and found fond memories of him and his family.
