Summary
Garry Kidder, age 75, a longtime resident of North Richland Hills, Texas, passed away on July 28, 2024, enveloped in the warmth and doting of his family. He was born on October 24, 1948, to proud parents Howard Kidder and Viola Kidder, nee Oliver in Dallas, Texas, and spent most of his life in the Dallas/Fort Worth metroplex.
In 1975, Garry graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in History degree at The University of Texas at Arlington. Fresh out of college—and despite possessing a wealth of artistic and intellectual talents—necessity led him to find a sensible job as a driver and office manager for Purolator Courier. While in this line of work, he happened upon the woman of his dreams, Bethanyanne Stubbs. The two coworkers grew into lovebirds who wasted little time being wed and building their little nest and a family in the Dallas suburbs. He retired from the courier industry four decades later.
At large, Garry was known for his quiet, phlegmatic disposition, his industrious work ethic, and being an extraordinarily dutiful husband and father. Those closest to him, however, knew him as so much more. In between the quiet interludes, Garry was concurrently a pseudo-Renaissance Man and an adept comedian with a fondness for the absurd.
Everyday conversation—whether lively or rather mundane—was subject to his amusing commentary, quick and clever quips, and theatrical impersonations. Backed with his encyclopedia for a mind, his family enjoyed endless, enriching engagement with him.
Few people are aware Garry was a very gifted artist. On the rare occasions he made time for drawing, he proved, with great ease, to be a masterful cartoonist and caricaturist. Musically, Garry enjoyed being DJ to his family with his extensive record collection—lecturing on the “who’s who” & the “when and where” all the while; but he was a proper musician himself. You could find him behind the piano and organ, playing famous pieces by ear, or composing his own often tranquil and touching melodies.
As an avid lover of nature, Garry’s most rewarding pastime of all was the rescue and tender loving care he extended to wildlife and to countless felines throughout his long years—the lasting impact of which is a tangible testament to the depths of his inner compassion.
Above all and outshining the brilliant treasure trove that was Garry’s talents and stewardship of Creation was his faith in the Lord Jesus, and profound, unwavering devotion and sense of duty in sacrificial love for his wife, his two daughters, and his grandson—through all of life’s bright abundance and its shadowy vicissitudes.
His family humbly gives thanks to the Lord for blessing this world with Garry’s outpouring soul these precious, 75 years.
Garry Kidder is survived by his beloved wife of 43 years, Bethanyanne Kidder; daughter, Candace and her husband, Todd Angeles; daughter, Melody and her husband, Richard Griffith; cherished grandson, Kadmiel Ramos; and a host of extended family members.
As per Garry’s wishes, a memorial in his honor will take place on the first day of Autumn, September 22, 2024. Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. at Legacy Church of Christ, 8801 Mid-Cities Blvd., North Richland Hills, Texas 76182
