Iona M. Johnston passed away peacefully on November 18th, 2024, surrounded by loved ones. She was born on September 20th, 1922, in Perrysville, Indiana. She is preceded in death by her mother Opal L. Anderson, husband John W. Johnston, son: John A. Johnston, two daughters: Gloria J. Wamsley and Margaret R. Beamon, one granddaughter Terri L. Welch, one grandson Tony N. Tash. She is survived by one son, Dennis A. Johnston, eight grandchildren, seventeen great grandchildren, 49 great great grandchildren, and 24 great great great grandchildren.
She worked at RCA and retired after 42 years of service. She then worked as a nanny for 20+ years. Granny was smart, funny, stubborn, caring, very giving, and just as witty as can be. Among her myriads of interests, it was driving and travelling, which she was most fond of.
Granny was loved by everyone and will be forever missed.
There will be no visitation or services. In lieu of flowers, family is asking for donations to be made to the American Cancer Society.
