Mr. James William “Butch” King, age 76, passed away peacefully on February 1, 2025, in Indianapolis, Indiana. Born on November 4, 1948, in Greenville, Kentucky, James lived a life defined by service, craftsmanship, and a deep appreciation for the simple joys of life. James proudly served his country as a member of the United States Army during the Vietnam War. Deployed to the Mekong Delta, he demonstrated courage and dedication in the face of adversity. After returning home, his commitment to service continued with approximately 15 years in the Kentucky Army National Guard. His military career was a testament to his unwavering sense of duty and patriotism. Professionally, James spent much of his civilian life as an auto-body repair technician and painter. Known for his exceptional skill and craftsmanship, he took great pride in his work and left a lasting impression on those fortunate enough to work alongside him. His meticulous attention to detail and passion for his craft earned him respect within his field. James found joy in life’s simple pleasures. An avid fisherman, he cherished time spent outdoors surrounded by nature’s beauty. His love for vintage and antique cars led him to attend car shows regularly, where he admired classic designs and shared stories with fellow enthusiasts. Recycling was another interest close to his heart—a reflection of his resourcefulness and care for the environment. A man of faith, James was a devoted Christian who found fulfillment in preaching at nursing homes. His kind spirit and heartfelt messages brought comfort and inspiration to many within his community. James is lovingly remembered by his sons Christopher King, Matthew King, and Adam King; six grandchildren; his brothers Rick King and Kenneth Randall Jr.; and sisters Lillian Rager, Shirley Noffsinger, Shelia Zachary, Patty Forester, and Jeanie Yonts. He was predeceased by his father James Soloman King; stepfather Kenneth Randall; Mother Jean Randall; brother Michael Randall; and grandson Timothy King. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, February 8, 2025, from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at Waters Edge Church located at 233 Watson Lane in Henderson, Kentucky (42420). Family and friends are invited to gather to honor James’s memory and celebrate a life well-lived.
