John William(Bill) Wiley, age 83, of Upland, IN, passed away on December 2, 2025.

Bill was born on February 10, 1942 in Hartford City to Cleo and Mary Wiley. He attended Jefferson Township High School, Taylor University for his undergraduate and then Wayne State University for his master’s degree.

Throughout his life, Bill worked as a computer science professional at Ford, NASA, Hillenbrand, and a professor at Taylor University before retiring from Eli Lilly. He was known for his love of continuous learning and published two books on Systems Requirements. He served his community as a medic and firefighter and had a deep appreciation for nature.

Bill was a devoted spouse, parent, and grandparent to wife Sandra Karl(1965-deceased 1996) and wife Judy Freese(2000-2025), children Bruce (Jane) Wiley and Erin (Jon) Bassett, step children Deirdre Miller and RD (Christie) Gray; grandchildren Grant (Reedy) Wiley, Elizabeth Wiley, Carson Wiley, Samantha Bassett and step grandchildren Gray (Sara) Miller, Payten and Keller Gray. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.

A Celebration of Life will be announced by the family at a later date.
