Summary
Margaret “Peggy” M. Tapek, 65, of Indianapolis, Indiana, passed away peacefully, on June 30, 2025. Peggy was born on October 10, 1959, in Muskegon, Michigan, to the late Edward and Esther Tapek. She later moved, with her family, to Elwood, Indiana, where she graduated from Elwood High School, in 1978. She went on to earn an associate’s degree, from Manchester College.
Peggy began her career at Lazarus Department Store. Later, she moved to Indianapolis, and found joy working in a library – where her love of books and learning made a lasting impact. She was a gifted seamstress, known for her creativity and craftsmanship. She also had a great love for classic films and was a devoted viewer of Turner Classic Movies.
Peggy was a kind, thoughtful and gentle soul. She is survived by dear friend, Bruce Fulton; lifelong friend, Holly Cotton; cousin, Kathy Kay; aunts, Genevieve Karpowicz and Stephanie Moore; and many more cousins, all who will miss her deeply.
She was preceded in death by her parents, a brother, John Tapek, as well as several aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Peggy’s legacy lives on in the lives she touched with her kindness, humility, and quiet strength.
A private celebration of life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in Peggy’s memory to a local library or literacy organization.
