Mary Lee Tanner-Black

Mary Lee Tanner-Black

Born on June 29th, 1968 and raised by her loving mother, Marthena Tanner, passed away peacefully in her home surrounded by her loved ones on January 17th, 2025.

Mary was the youngest of six children: Freda (Lynn) Warhurst, Damon (Wilma) Tanner, Sandy (Ray) Underwood, Becky (Joe) Howard, Cyndi Frost.

She met her soulmate, Larry Black, in November of 1985 when she was NOT wearing a red dress. Eventually marrying in 1995, they maintained the type of love that most people only dream of. He was “Her Person.”

The very best mother to her three children: Jeremy (Ashley) Tanner, Jasper Tanner, Courtney (Kenny) Black.

Her whole world was her six grandchildren, and being the best Mamaw to Lyrik, Piper, Gage, Ryder, Weston, and Waylynn. They were her greatest accomplishments.

Mary loved nothing more than listening to music, singing her favorite songs, and making people laugh. Always the life of the party, she will be truly missed. She loved her family 6!

Arrangements entrusted to Simple Cremation Indianapolis. 6904 South East Street, Suite E, Indianapolis, IN 46227. (317) 361-4749. www.simplecremationindianapolis.com
