Phillip Edward Ballard, Jr.

Summary

Mr. Phillip Edward Ballard, Jr., 66, peacefully entered eternal rest on June 26, 2026, at IU Health Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis, IN, following a decline in health over the previous five weeks.

Phillip was born on May 2, 1960, in High Point, NC, to the late Phillip and Mae (Mary) Ballard.

He attended High Point City Schools, Jamestown Junior High School, and Ragsdale High School in Jamestown, NC. At the age of eighteen, Phillip proudly served his country in the United States Army Reserve, where he earned the designation of Sharpshooter.

Phillip lived in Indianapolis, IN, for thirteen years before making his home in Avon, IN, where he resided for the past seventeen years. Throughout his career, he worked as a Floor Care Specialist, Forklift Operator, and Custodian. He retired in 2025 after many years of dedicated service.

Phillip was known for his kind heart, gentle spirit, and caring nature. He had a wonderful sense of humor and an infectious smile that could brighten any room. He found joy in cooking, playing the guitar, fishing, and watching movies.

In addition to his parents, Phillip was preceded in death by his brother, Terrence Ballard of High Point, NC.

Phillip leaves to cherish his memory his loving sister, Phyllis Parker of Thomasville, NC; his children, Phillip Ballard III (Kristie) of Jamestown, NC, Davida Busari (Abdullahi) of Jamestown, NC, Chelsea Ballard of Phoenix, AZ, and Jasmine Ballard of Indianapolis, IN; ten cherished grandchildren; one precious great-grandchild; and his beloved partner of seventeen years, Vanessa King of Avon, IN.

He will also be lovingly remembered by Vanessa's great-grandson, Messiah King of Avon, IN, along with a host of nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, extended family members, and dear friends. Though his physical presence is no longer with us, he will remain in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.
