Richard “Dick” Lee Beltzhoover, age 86, of Westfield, IN passed away on Wednesday, August 5th, 2026. Dick was born in Carlisle, PA on February 3rd, 1940, to the late George Calvin Beltzhoover and Hazel Odella (Walker) Beltzhoover. He was one of seven siblings.
Dick started working at age eight in his father’s grocery store, thus beginning a lifelong love of work. He always viewed work as a continuing adventure, never as a chore. An early example of the career to come, his father always knew what department Dick was working in as sales always increased!
Dick went on to study at Penn State and served in the US Airforce. He deployed after college and lived overseas in Libya, Spain and England while on active duty. Years later he visited England with his sons, George and David, while George was on active duty in the Army in Schweinfurt FRG. The irony that US Bombers departed RAF Alconbury, where Dick was stationed during his service, to bomb the ball bearing plants in Schweinfurt where his son was stationed, always amused him.
Dick married Faye Louise Goodyear on June 25th, 1961, and they had three sons: George Christopher, David Edward, and Geoffrey Louis Beltzhoover. Dick traveled extensively thanks to his numerous sales jobs and ultimately moved his family out of Carlisle. He, Faye, and their boys would live in Joliet, IL, Hampton, NH, and Aurora, IL, before finally settling in Fort Wayne, IN.
Dick loved his career in sales, and he helped start many businesses over the years. In 1975, he and Kelly Howell formed Insulation Representatives (Insul Reps), a manufacturer’s representative agency. He was the financer of Indy Connection, the first Limousine service in the city. He started Digital Arts, a pre-press imaging company. He helped fund and found Omnicity, a wireless internet service provider. He served as the CEO of the NVF Company.
In addition to everything else he accomplished, when Dick decided he wanted to be a pilot, he put his mind to it and got his license. Being an all-in guy, he bought fractional ownership of a private plane, the Piper Cherokee. He flew this plane all over the eastern half of the country and relished the time he spent in the skies, especially those times he was able to take his older boys along on flights.
In 1977, his marriage with Faye came to an end, and Dick relocated to Indianapolis. After five years, he met the love of his life in Linda Lewis. They married on August 23rd, 1982, and spent the rest of their lives together. They were long-term members of Highland Country Club and played many rounds of golf over the decades.
Dick is survived by his wife, Linda, sons George and Geoff, stepchildren William McComb and Elizabeth McComb, and two granddaughters, Rachel Almond and Hailee Zuniga. He is preceded in death by his beloved son, David. Dick’s family will host a celebration of life at his son George’s home (604 Oakwood Ct, Indianapolis IN 46260) on Saturday August 22nd, 2026, from 4:00 pm until it ends. Dick was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend, and he will be deeply missed
