Summary

Richard (Rich) peacefully passed away at home (age 60), surrounded by his two sisters and his very dear friend Cory Nichol.

Born to Roy and Beverly (Hein) Gencks, June 16,1963 in Milwaukee Wisconsin. He was the youngest of four children, having three older sisters.

He graduated from Rufus King High School in Milwaukee. He attended UWM for 1 year. He received a certificate in computer repair from MBTI.

He married Kennett (Georgia Maynard) Gencks on January 24,1984. They lived in Milwaukee until he enlisted in the Air Force in January 1989. He served in support of Operation Desert Storm from August 1990 until August 1992 when he separated from the Air Force with honors.

He received AF Good Conduct Metal, National Defense Service Metal and AF Training Metal. He spent that time at Williams Air Force Base in Arizona as OPS Resource Management Specialist Journeyman.

In 1996, they moved to Indianapolis, Indiana. He worked for Securitas Services and Stalman Security.

He worked as a security guard and maintenance at the Hibert Circle Theater, where the Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra performs.

He was affectionately known as the " Lord of 10th St.". He would walk home from the bus stop in his uniform and carry his briefcase. He enjoyed all thing science fiction, especially role-playing games. He enjoyed computer games as well as board games. His favorite saying was "I give the best hugs", which included a free back rub.

Richard was preceded in death by his parents Roy and Beverly Gencks. His partner Kennett (Georgia Maynard) Gencks, his sister Roberta (Bobbi) (Gencks) Susulla and his nephew Jeremy Susulla.

He is survived by his sister Ruth Ann (Sundquist) Gencks (Scott A. Sundquist) Angelique (Sundquist) Terrell Tramine, Osyrus, Sauron, Riannon, Arcane. Scott L. Sundquist, Seth. Michael (Elizabeth Guentner) Sundquist Victoria, Stryker. Sister Renee E. (Gencks) Andrew Thimm, Benjamin, John. Brother-in-law Mark Susulla, Joseph. A very special friend Cory Nichol, also Aunts, Uncles, Cousins, and many friends.

He will truly be missed.

There will be no memorial service, he will be cremated and buried in Milwaukee with his parents.

  1. Richard will be truly missed. He contributed to the US with his military service, his community, workplace, family and loved ones. I will miss you, cuz. Uncle Fritz sends his love and prayers too. Richard, Rest in peace.
