It is with great sadness, we announce the sudden passing of Ronald Erwin Hilton, age 65, of Greensburg, Indiana. Ron passed away on Tuesday, April 22, 2025, at Community Hospital South due to complications arising after the surgery to remove a cancerous kidney.
Ron was born on December 16, 1959, in Fort Bragg, North Carolina to John Hilton and Elfriede Kuhnle. After moving to Indiana, Ron graduated from Warren Central High School and spent 1 year at Indiana University before starting his professional career. Ron spent over 25 years with Target Corporation as, among other positions, the transportation manager for the Indianapolis distribution center. He eventually attained an associate’s degree in business from Ivy Tech before transitioning into product sales at various other organizations.
Ron married Elizabeth Ann Lehker on November 14, 1986, by way of a small, intimate ceremony in Marion County, Indiana. For the next 35 years, Ron and Beth resided in Avon, Indiana, raising their family and managing the chaos of extracurricular activities. Recently, Ron and Beth moved to Greensburg, Indiana to be closer to their grandchildren. Ron was preceded in death by his parents and is survived by his 3 siblings. Moreover, Ron will be dearly missed by friends and his surviving wife: Beth; his sons: Brent, Zach, and Zane; his daughters-in-law: Michelle and Jamie; his grandchildren: Bailey, Holloway, and Wesley; and his great-grandchildren: Mars and Valentine.
During his time on earth, Ron enjoyed sports, playing softball and rooting for the Colts, Pacers, and Reds. He earned a black belt in Shorei Goju Ryu karate. He liked all music genres, but among his favorite bands were U2 and The Rolling Stones. He enjoyed card games and board games such as backgammon. If given the courtesy of a final meal, Ron would have selected a ribeye steak and a Coors Light. Despite his cynical facade, Ron had a loving heart. His most notable accomplishment was his family. Ron will be remembered most fondly as a grandfather and for his willingness to sacrifice for family.
Although his remains will be cremated, the family will be holding a celebratory memorial for Ron on Saturday, May 10, 2025, 11:00AM to 2:00PM at Avon United Methodist Church. The visitation will start at 11:00AM, a brief memorial is scheduled thereafter at 12:00PM, with lunch to follow around 1:00PM.

Very sorry to hear about my cousin Ronald’s passing. I remember as a young child, on my parents farm,[Levi & Ruth Hoover] Ronald would come for a visit with his mom, we would beg my aunt to please let Ronald stay the night. He was so much fun to be around. We all loved him so! Praying this small comment gives you peace and comfort thru Jesus Christ our Lord and Savior. Love, cousin Monica
My deepest sympathy goes out to his family, I was saddened to here today while I was at work at lunch time of his passing. I had the pleasure of working for Ron in Target’s Distribution in warehousing for many years. It’s been over 36 years now that I’ve worked for Target 🎯. Ron was a good man and he will be missed. God bless and may he rest in peace.
