As a child he enjoyed go-kart racing and continued to enjoy racing events throughout his life. He had a soft spot for animals and enjoyed being in settings where he could enjoy the ambience and atmosphere of nature; going hiking and camping were some of his best past-times. He was known to be very intelligent and loved learning. He was an avid reader; from a young age beginning with true crime and mystery authors like Stephen King was a favorite of his. From there, his genre's grew to studying and reading anything within the scope of religious books and educational books. He loved learning and made a point to continue learning throughout his life.

Among these interests he enjoyed music, being a care-free spirit, and surrounded by company.
