First my condolences go out to Shawn’s family and his beautiful daughter and good looking son You were a great friend, a hard worker, a great father. Your contagious laugh made everyone around you laugh. You will be missed dearly by myself and my family and your friends. I know you will be shining down on all of us and always cheering for our Hoosiers. Love you man. R.I.P. my friend
Dear Sara & the rest of Shawn & your families:
I was shocked & saddened to learn of Shawn’s recent passing. He was so full of life, enthusiasm, humor, & drive. I couldn’t believe he died just a few days after I last saw him. My heart breaks for all of his loved ones left behind, but especially for Sara & Garrett, who meant the world to Shawn.
I pray that Garrett always remembers how very much Shawn loved him & how proud Shawn was of his fun, bright, well-behaved & loving young son! It only took one look at Shawn when he was with Garrett to see how very much Shawn treasured & loved his special little guy!
I hope that as Garrett grows up Shawn’s siblings will delight Garrett by sharing family photos & movies with him, as well as telling Garrett plenty of fun stories about their amazing brother. And, Sara, may God restore peace in your heart & joy in your spirit as you bravely move forward into a different future than the one you & Shawn had imagined together.
Having someone with Shawn’s exuberance, humor, great heart & wonderful personality was such a blessing while he was here. However, losing a loved one like that leaves an enormous void that can take more time & energy to heal & move forward again. Be gentle with yourself as you begin that difficult healing process. Every passing week, month & year will find you feeling a bit stronger, even if sadness & loss overtake you from time to time. (That’s allowed & expected.)
Pray for God to be with you & Garrett & Shawn’s entire family to help all of you through the deep pain you’re experiencing now. I know that Shawn would want each of you to be optimistic & hopeful for what the future holds for you. Remember that he’ll always be cheering you on from the sidelines.
May God bless all of you!
