Susan Barnes

Summary

Susan Elizabeth Barnes (maiden name: Sandlin) was born December 23, 1973 in Myrtle Beach, SC to father; Elgan Eugene Sandlin and mother Annabell Marie Sandlin (Abercrombie). Her vibrant presence sadly left us on August 11th, 2024 in Indianapolis, Indiana at Eskenazi Hospital.

Susan loved animals, gardening, nature walks, good food and documentaries.
She loved her pets dearly.

Among her pets, she especially loved spending time with family and friends. She was known to have a contagious laugh that could bring a smile to anyone’s face. She was such a positive person and would always lend a hand when needed; always incredibly selfless and would give the clothes off her back to help a stranger. She worked for Hickory Recovery Network which elucidated her caring and selfless nature and allowed her to be a voice of affirmation for others.

She volunteered her time and energy many times feeding the homeless. She even once took in a homeless male into her home and cared for him. She was fearless and eager to do good. If you had the chance to meet her consider it a blessing because her personality shined brighter than the sun. There was never a dull moment with Susan. She is very dearly missed to all her family and friends that had the pleasure of knowing her.

She is survived by: Three children; Christian Elizabeth Donaldson (maiden name: Barnes) (Partner: Nick Williams), Kenzie Ashton Mauro (Maiden name: Barnes) (Husband: RJ Mauro), Shadey Justeen Barnes (Partner: Kody Helton)
Grandchildren: (6) KJ Donaldson, Eleanor (Ellie) Donaldson, Norah Mauro, Valerie Mauro, Elijah Mauro, Nila Helton
Siblings: Eugene Sandlin, Lisa Townsand (Maiden name: Sandlin) (Husband: Hugh Townsand), Tami Sandlin, Tari True (Maiden name: Sandlin) (Husband: Tony True), Matthew Sandlin
